The rest of the team

As you probably know, not all of the members of our team were involved with the medical clinics while in Africa. I wanted to take some time to share what all they did while we were here. Our pastor, Al Jackson, and our music minister, Jamie Baker spent a lot of time teaching and encouraging local pastors and believers in Zambia. They left Saturday morning to go to the town of Lubwe, about 30 kilometers away, where there was a gathering of 6 local Churches for a "conference". It sounded like it was a rich and rewarding experience to worship and study the word together. The local pastors provided food and sleeping arrangements for them and they described it as "the best they had to offer" - meaning these people truly laid down the "red carpet" for them and showed much respect for their visit. On Monday and Tuesday, they both taught in the local Samfya bible college that our M friends are associated with. Brother Al taught in the mornings on the doctrine of the church, etc. Jamie taught in the afternoon about music ministry and worship. On Tuesday afternoon, Jamie had them break into 3 groups to write their own song based on psalm 42:1. He shared a video recording of this with us last night and it was amazing to hear what they each came up with - some were slower, some faster, beautiful harmony. I truly believe the students were encouraged by both of these men and the time they invested in teaching and encouraging them.

The rest of our group assisted Billy Wayne with various projects around the house/compound. He is currently building 5 chalets for married student housing for the bible college. The men helped him with the electrical wiring and window installation, as well as sealing the bricks on the outside of the houses. They also helped paint the playground that Billy Wayne is going to put up shortly. It seems like they were able to accomplish a lot in the short time we were there!
